Thought of the Day: May 3, 2018 – Where is Your Faith
Do you have a spiritual faith which is larger than your own existence?
Faith can be Spiritual, God, a Higher Power, the Universal, the Secret, Culture or Religion. You just have to have unconditional faith in whatever you believe.
Faith in a living God or the believe that God is an alien is a highly debated topic.
Every person you talk to will have an opinion on this topic, although some don’t share their thoughts on the subject.
The Oxford dictionary defines faith as, a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.
Faith means believing in the unseen to gain an understanding. It is blindly basing your believes on what you have read, heard and experiences rather than using scientific proof.
Growing up in a Hindu family I believed in the God of my parents. The more I attended the temple and the religious movies I watched, the more questions I would have for my parents. They were passing what knowledge they had to us based on what they understood. Believing that they were saying was blind faith.
Many of your religious and cultural believes come from the teachings that were passed down.
A very interesting thing happen to me growing up, my parents did not push religion on my sister or I. My parents may have their own believes and gave us space to form our own thoughts and believes based on the topic.
Growing up I had one of three choices. I could develop the faith of my parents. I could study other faiths and take part in those or I could walk away from religion and God completely.
Know one has the right to tell other what their spiritual path should or should not be. I believe everyone chooses their own path based on what is right for them and not having a religious believe is still a path to enlightenment.
Growing up I had many questions and my parents answered the best they understood. Some questions they could not answer. They would often say, “That is how it is” or “We do not know but we follow it anyways”.
This is what I call faith. Not knowing why, but following anyways based on what you have read, heard or experienced.
If your devotion brings you all you want then continue to do what you are doing. You could dig deeper into reading, praying or practicing your faith.
If you feel you need more faith in your life then make the needed changes. Introduce spiritual book, people or a practice to your daily routine. Try meditation.
Join a community with a different devotional background. This will help you understand people whom you may not understand.
Lastly, although I grew up in a Hindu family, I decided to be a Man from all religious. I focus on loving everyone the same no matter their religion, culture, tradition, believe or faith.
I believe is a better way to live life…
