Thought of the Day: June 7, 2018 – Find Spiritual Balance
One of life’s most amazing moments is when you can help someone find spiritual balance in their life.
When you can help others you also reap the benefits. I cannot tell you how, but over time you will see it and you will thing of this moment.
If you are looking to find spiritual balance, where do you put your trust, faith and understanding?
Do you put it in God or do you believe things just happen randomly?
In my life, meditation and prayer play a major role in find balance within. I do not spend hours reading from books, praying or meditating to find balance. I spend 30 minutes in reading, a few moments in prayer after my 20 minute meditation. This is about an hour of my day.
But with that said, some people need more time than others. You will have to be the judge of how much time you need to spend to find spiritual balance.
You can find balance by reading the word of God when you meditation. If you are going to do this, I recommend sitting comfortably and taking a few deep breaths to help clear the mind, before you begin.
For me I would read from any religious book. Sometimes the bible and other times the gospels of Buddha. It did not matter to me which book as long as I am reading and looking for a positive message.
As soon as I found the verse I need, I meditate on it to gain a better understanding.
Before the distractions of technology, many of our ancestors spend hours in nature. You do not have to believe God created the universe go out for a nice walk, run, bike ride and/or hike.
But if you tell me there is no God, that’s fine. Go into nature and appreciate the creation that has taken millions of years of evolution.
I’m not telling you what to believe, I am just saying go out there and find balance. When you are in nature take the time to understand how everything works together and needs to work together to stay in harmony.
This is the balance and understanding the Buddha was teaching about.
From time to time you will come across people who rub you the wrong way. They will challenge your faith.
Do not let them distract you or take you away from your daily practice. You may need to go on retreat where you can be around people who share similar interests as you.
At the end of your day and ultimately your life, how will you know you have found balance in your life?
How will you know peace and spiritual stability?
