Thought of the Day: April 20, 2018 – Defeat Needs an Excuse
Do you make an excuse when facing a defeat? I believe too many of us do.
We try, we fail and we make an excuse to why we were not successful. Instead we forget we can try, fail and adjust to try again.
We make an excuse to convince our self that we could have won if we did not have to face some circumstance.
Have you heard yourself or someone else say, “I could have caught the ball if the sun was not in my eyes”. We do not like to admit we were slow. We did not get to the right place to catch the ball on time and that is why we lost.
When we lose a sale, we say the customer just does not get it. We should admit that we were ill prepared. We do not want to believe it is our fault the customer did not buy from us.
If you experience defeat at anything in life, it is important to not make an excuse. What you and I need to do is learn how we can be better so we do not make the same mistake. We have to look for ways to improve.
If we continue to make excuses we will only cheat ourselves. We will lose our ability to be better than we are today.
