Planning To Do A Juice Cleanse?
A juice cleanse is a lot easier than eating 1o fruits and vegetables daily but how many people try juicing?
Today you are “X” amount of days into or away from the new year. How is your health goals going? Have you gone to the gym? Are you eating right? Do you feel bloated?
Maybe you need to try a juice cleanse. Have you heard people telling about their experience after a cleanse? The ups and the downs. Going to the bathroom or feeling “Cleaned Out.”
Yes, that will all happen to you. You can experience different emotions as your body does a spring cleaning.
Why Do A Cleanse or Detox?
A few months ago I felt I needed to restart my system. The solution was easy for me. I was going to do a cleanse because I have done cleanses over the last five years and know the benefits it provides my body.
Scientifically put, I want to clean out my intestines. Why would anyone need to do this?
This is where absorption of vitamins and nutrient occurs after food breaks down in your stomach. For us to be healthier we have to allow the good food we eat the opportunity to be absorbed by our body.
The secret is to not just do a cleanse but to change your eating habits for the future, starting with the cleanse. The healthier food we eat the better our body will feel.
What Will You Experience
Everyone who does a cleanse will experience different things. Many people experience cravings and withdrawal from sugar and salt. Whys is that? Good question.
What if I told you that sugar and salt are added to many of the foods we eat and they are addicting? Most of you would agree. The next time you go to the local store read the labels of the food you eating. You will see that salt, sugar or both are typically one of the Top 5 ingredients.
Expect your body to not work as hard because you are drinking liquid fruits and vegetables. Your body has an easy time digesting liquid. It does work harder when it has to break down foods like pasta, meat and rice.
The body is made up of water so it makes sense that is has an easier time with liquids.
If you live in a cold environment like Canada, northern United States, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia or anywhere the temperature drops, on your cleanse you will feel colder than normal. In winter you will feel even colder. Why is that?
Eating solid food like meat, pasta and rice, helps the body stay warm as it works and burn calories to break down the food you eat. If you are cold and are uncomfortable then stop the cleanse.
You may experience tiredness because you are not eating the calories your body needs to operate. What your body will do is slow down your metabolism and try to conserve energy.
Everyone is different and you many not experiment a lack of energy. During a cleanse it can be a good time to relax the body, mind and spirit.
Depending the amount of days you do your juice cleanse, you will experience many different feeling. You many get headaches, lack of interest in certain things, you many feel moody or short-tempered, short-term weight loss, gassy or hungry.
These are all normal experiences and if you need to stop your cleanse it might be a good idea to do so but if you can keep going comfortably, then do so.
My Juice Cleanse
Everywhere you look these days you find new juice bars popping up. Although, there is nothing wrong with going to a juice bar and supporting the local business, I found that I wanted to control my cleanse.
I went online and checked out the different websites before I started my cleanse. You could go to the website of most juice bar businesses and right on their site you can get instant access to the recipes for the juices.
Although they do not tell you how much of each fruit or vegetable they use, you can gauge it pretty good.
Imagine going to the store and spending $200 on a juice cleanse? Now imagine doing a similar juice cleanse at home for a fraction of the price.
I did a 7 day cleanse where I used the Omega Juicer, at home and made fresh juice. If you have never done a cleanse before I would recommend starting with a 1 or 3 day cleanse.
During the cleanse I drank 2 litres of water. I would also drink green tea with no sugar or milk.
Many of my morning, afternoon and dinner juices were the same. I had 4 juices, 1 Almond Milk drink and 1 Citrus drink
- Green Apples, Carrots, slices of Ginger, Mint, Parsley, Spinach, Cabbage, Cucumbers, Celery sticks, Matcha powder and Chlorella and Spirulina.
I divided the combination into 4 drinks. Each being 310 ml then I added 190 ml water.
There was no reason for the amount. That is how much juice I got and I wanted to have a 5oo ml drink for each meal.
- Almond Milk, Chia seeds, Cinnamon, Hemp seeds, Honey, Cacao powder, Mushroom blend powder, Maca, Mesquite powder, Guarana seed powder, Camu Camu and Himalayan salt.
I only had 1 of these drinks a day. The honey gave me the sugar my body wanted. The Guarana powder gave me more energy.
- Lime, Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit, Honey, Cayenne pepper.
I would drink this juice 2 hours before bed.
I modelled my cleanse after Cru Juice mostly.
I experienced different things during my 7 day cleanse. Some of which were:
- Having to retrain myself because I want to eat a few times during the cleanse.
- My feet and nose were cold. Normally I am very warm.
- At certain points I could feel my hands were going numb.
- Hunger pains were pretty normal after day 4.
- Craving food but I am not hungry. Most likely it was my body wanting sugar.
- I slept great for the most part.
Coming out of the Cleanse
- Lentil soup.
- Almonds and Cashews.
- Kale salad. No dressing.
- Chicken Bone Broth.
- Raw vegetables like Carrots.
- Home made Kombucha.
- Pho – Vietnamese Noodle Soup.
I would recommend a cleanse to anyone. I can not tell you the length of time that is perfect for you. You know your body and have to listen to it before, during and after your cleanse. I have never felt bad after a cleanse and normally do experience the results I was hoping to achieve.
Cutting down on my craving, cutting out sugar, salt and looking to a healthier diet are my reasons. What are your reasons?
