Communicating your message effectively can have its own rewards and allows you to network with many different people.
Since you are the face of your business, who better market your brand, relay the message and build personal relationships.
If you oversee a major corporation, you may need to hire staff to help you with different aspects of your business. Promoting your business or website does not have to be your full-time responsibility.
You can in trust others, such as an intern, a PR agency or an employee who understand the vision and message the company is trying to manifest in its business segment.

Your business will only be successful if you build a core following that enjoys your products and services.
If you are doing any work online, which most people today are, you can also consider press releases to help you build your business.
Press releases fall under the category of marketing. They do not have to be a huge part of your marketing budget but if press releases are increase your business they can be an advantage to you.
Today many blogs use press releases to easily spread their message. You can typically type up a single page letter and through mass syndication get your message out to millions of people within a matter of mins to hours.
Once your message has been sent out, you have the ability to connect to new customers, increase brand awareness, increase market share and get your product into the hands of people who can benefit from it.

Although you can hire someone to do your PR, I want to give you 5 reasons to be your own PR person.
Most entrepreneurs know when you start your own business, capital to grow the business can be hard to come by. The truth is most businesses do not make an income in the first 5 years.
To be your own PR person can be time consuming but if you understand the benefits it may make financial senses until you are able to pass that work to someone locally or hire someone overseas.
Is there anyone out there who can communicate your message better than you? In some instances, I believe there is.
Since you are an entrepreneur and you may be starting your business, you must learn how to successfully relay your message to different personality types.
I believe it is easier for you to promote your own message and get across the essence of what you are saying.
Be Your Brand
Look at any logo and you will most likely be able to recognize the company that is behind the marketing. Even if I give you a short description you know the company by name.

- Golden Arches
- A blue bird
- A ghost in a yellow box
- Lips with a tongue sticking out
- An Apple with a bit out of it
- A bunny with a bow tie
- A guy flying, through the air, with a basketball
- An S inside of a diamond
Just as you can name these companies, you want others to recognize your brand quickly. Your brand should conjure up an emotional connection and give people a reason to spend money with you.
If you are online and starting your business, I believe it is important to become the face of your company.
People love to do business with people they relate to, recognize and trust. When you communicate the message of your company, you effectively do all three and attract people to you.
With everything moving so fast today, you can start to feel like a generic number. No one knows who you are, what your needs or wants are and sometimes companies forget to call you back become they have enough business already.
When you be your own PR person, you take responsibility and connect with people. You make sure you understand who your customer is, you know their needs or wants and you make sure you, or someone on your team, is following up with the customer.
With social media, Skype, webinars and personalized videos, you can connect with your customers, followers and fans, one on one or in a group setting.
With so many other companies treating their customers like a generic number you can stand out and provide high touch relationships in a high-tech world.
Control the Message
Many people in the media have encourage President Donald Trump to stop using Twitter. Like the President or not, one thing is for sure, he understands the importance of controlling your message.
Although he also uses a publicist, he knows the only person who can control his message is him. He truly is in control of his brand, his marketing, what the masses read and when the message is sent out.
Donald Trump knows it is important to be your own PR person. He is in control of how people see is brand.
He is also in control of the message he puts out about yourself and what he wants people to know.
I believe, you do not have to like Donald Trump, to understand why it is important to control your message. You can use his example and apply it to your business.
Work with A PR Firm
At some point in your business you are going to get so busy that you will have to delegate certain aspects of your business to others who can effectively relay your messaging.
You may want to consider a public relations firm who can also handle press releases if your business can utilize them.
PR firms have experience and they can help you understand your customer. This happens because you look at your customer through the lens of your PR company. You also get a change to network with people who are pro’s in that industry.
Even If you work with a team, you still control your message. You can let the PR firm know what your messaging needs to be. They can then put a marketing plan together that can effectively get you message across.
This works because they have worked with other companies and can use examples of what has and has not worked in the past.
When you work with a PR firm you don’t have to become the expert, anymore. You focus on building the business and the PR firm focuses on getting you customers through various marketing channels.
Only you can decide if your business will benefit if you be your own PR person.
There are many ways to do promotions and increase business. If you have a website you can partner up with them and utilizing the backlinks that may be available to you.
Ultimately, when you understand why you should or should not do the PR for your business, you will make time or find someone who can do it for you.
Public relationships is not easy and takes work. Press releases can be one way to get your name out there. They can help you build your brand. If you are not doing it efficiently you run the risk of hurting your brand and losing money.
