Oprah Winfrey Live In Calgary
Have you ever seen Oprah live? Like her or not, she has a lot of knowledge that she shared with her fans.
I will share with you my experience in seeing Oprah live from stage.
Two days before the live Oprah event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, my wife, and I entered a draw and won a pair of tickets to, “An Evening with Oprah” at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Knowing that Oprah is influenced by, and has influenced, some of today’s biggest leaders it was amazing to have this opportunity to see her live.
Oprah is not only a successful business women but a power house for advertisers.
She has a deep understanding of what living a life of significance means and teaches it to people through her many publications. Oprah has started her own magazine called, O.
Many of us have seen Oprah on her various shows but if you have the ability see her live, do it. She excites the crowd like no one else can. She does that with compassion, energy, love and insightfulness.
Before I tell you the 10 questions Oprah asked on stage, let me tell you a little about our seats. We did not win nose bleed seats. We won a pair of floor seats valued at $400 each.
To this day, I am still amazing that we won this opportunity to see an icon, amazing speaker, person of influence and ambassador to the world, Oprah Winfrey.
We were only 15 or so rows from the stage and the crowd was buzzing. Everyone was ready to see the queen of day time talk.
When Oprah came out on stage she was wearing one of Alberta’s and the City of Calgary’s most recognizable symbols. She was supporting, The Stampede Cowboy Hat!
As you can imagine the crowd erupted just like you’d expect. What a great showman. Wild cheering when on for five minutes. She had the crowd right where she wanted us. There was no turning back from the amazing evening that was about to take place.
Oprah started the evening by telling everyone her story. Where she came from and what she went through. How she grew up and what she overcame to that point in life. All the good and bad she has seen or experienced.
She explained how she first went from radio to television. How she become a news anchor and then the ultimate, having her own talk show!
Oprah Winfrey explained how she decided to start her own network and the risk that was behind the move she wanted to make. Today the OWN network is one of the most recognizable networks on television.
As the evening when on and Oprah started to get into the question and answer segment of her show, she brought out Canadian icon George Strombolopolous to do a Q and A with the talk show queen.
George Strombolopolous asked Oprah questions and she would answer them. Although the talk sounded a little scripted, none the less Oprah was given out her secrets to success.
Throughout the evening, Oprah talked about topics that would have one reflect on their own life.
Questions like, “Why am I here?” should be answered by everyone so we can understand our purpose. She said goal in life is to find out that answer.
Once statement that stands out to me was, “That little voice in our head is where we are all equal, that voice speaks to us equally.”
We need to understand and control what that voice say to us. For many of us that voice tells us we need to help people in need. To others that same voice tells us to pursue our goals and dream.
That voice tells us to “get” our freedom and pursue the life you want to live. Check out this post on why getting your freedom is important.
Oprah From Stage
As Oprah talked I could not help but feel she was talking directly to me. Her voice resonated within me. I noticed much of what she was saying lined up with Eckhart Tolle books, “A New Earth” and “The Power of Now“. Click the link to purchase.
Perhaps you have read one or both of his books? I have read, A New Earth and have listened to the 10-week class Eckhart Tolle and Oprah put on.
As I continued to actively listen to Oprah tell her story, I wrote down 10 statements and later developed them into questions.
As I wrote down the questions I felt Oprah would ask these tough questions of herself as well. I believe she has asked herself similar questions in the past and continues to do so today.
Oprah Winfrey has asked herself some of life’s biggest questions and I feel we should also ask them so we can head in the right direction in our life.
Read each question and take some time to answer each question. You can also read my answers to get to know me. By knowing me you may find out more about yourself.
Questions Oprah Asked
What is the calling for your life?
The question is not easy to answer. Many of us search for years looking for meaning. We attempt to grow and change as we head in the direction we see our life headed in.
For me, I believe my calling is to help people. I do my best to learn something new every day and share it with people I know, on social media and through different blog articles.
How will I help people in the future? As I continue my journey and as you continue your, we will be faced with different challenges. How we react and deal with those challenges will all us to help people in different ways in the future.
I know I have the experience and knowledge. I would like to share that knowledge just as Oprah does with others, so they can benefit from it.

How do I defines who I am?
There are many things which define who we are. All the little things to all big things that we experience daily shape our thoughts and attitudes. There is a range of experiences that give us a wide sense of happiness, sadness, excitement and a variety of other emotion.
I find knowing who I am, regardless of what I face, is one thing that defines me no matter what happens to me daily. How I react or do not react will allow me to keep the inner peace that I have worked on developing.
What attributes connect you to your purpose?
I believe having positive people in my inner circle builds positive attributes in my life. What separate you from all the negative people and happenings in this world?
When I reflect on all the experiences I have had in my life I know having a good heart connects me to my purpose. My heart cares for people, their success, happiness and overall well-being.
Sometimes I want all the good things in the world for people more than they want it for themselves. This can be hard to deal with but I know I bring a positive vibe everywhere I go. That positive vibe allows me to connect with people and them to connect with me.
We can connect with people in many ways and help then change their world. If we cannot help people change their world at least we can change our own.
What does the voice in your head say?
We all have an inner voice. Many of us try to push it away. I do my best to listen to it even when it is hard and I do not want to.
When we sleep, I believe that same voice talks to us through our dreams. The voice is our subconscious mind helping us understand the good or bad that will come from our decisions. My inner voice helps me understand my bad habits and the circumstances of all my decisions.
For many of us and myself included, my long-term picture includes meditation. My purpose is not quiet my inner voice but learn to listen to it differently than I have been told to. Click here to read 25 reasons to practice meditation.
What do I believe about myself?
Depending on who you are, you may answer this question one of two ways. Many of us tend to focus on the positive or negative in our life. We reflect on all the things we think that make us who we are.
What we should do is reflect on all the great things other people see in us, say to us and about us.
Everything we believe is made up of all our collective experiences. We try to label those experiences as positive or negative. No one likes to focus on their negative believes about themselves.
I also do not focus on the negative rather I do my best to look at the positive life should offer. If you do reflect on the negative, this can show you where you may want to consider change.
Why don’t we look at the negative? The main reason is we do not want to hurt our EGO. If we do not consider the EGO, then it allows us to believe who ever we believe we are.
For the most part I do believe we are perfect the way we are. Sure, there is a part of us we all want to improve. Take time to improve that part but do it for you, not others.
What message are you sending people with your words?
Do you speak positively or negatively? If our words are not positive, not only do we hurt ourselves, but we could hurt those we care about.
When I speak, I do my best to use words that are uplifting to the person I am speaking with.
I let people know they can do anything if they truly want to do if there dreams keep them going. The words we say to our self are just as important. Click here for affirmations you can say to yourself. You will find 8 different categories.
The conscious and subconscious mind work together. So, when I speak, I use my external voice to program my internal voice. The more positive my words the more positive my thoughts.
Did you know what you say becomes reality? We must believe and act on our words. Our mind works to ensure it finds ways to be successful. If you believe you will be a failure, then your mind will work on making that come true.
What message am I sending people with my actions?
They say actions speak louder than words. In a global society that is ever connect through email, phone, texting, social media and other platforms, we must be conscious of the message we are put out into the world.
It can be hard to separate the fake news from the real news.
I am accountable to myself and my wife. If I do not back up my words with action, then my fear will not allow me to see success. I’m motivated to work hard and do the right things even if I am scared to do them. I know together my wife and I, can accomplish all we want for our family. How did I get here? And how do I get to where I want to be?
Answering the question, how did I get here, allows me to make sure I am on track with all the item I have on my focus board. This is a white board with all my goals listed on it.
I look at my goals daily to ensure that I am on track to completing my goals so I can live the life of my dreams.
How do I get where I want to be? This question allows me the opportunity to think through what has happen over the quart of the year and re-game plan if I need to. Game planning allows me to stay on track and allows me to reconsider the strategy I have decided to use.
Each day I ask myself what my next best move is. I do so I can stay on the path to accomplish my goals.
How do I turn my life around, so I can head in the direction I see myself?
Turning your life around does not happen in an instant but the decision to do so, does! Every day I envision my life the way I want it to be and then look for ways to make that vision a reality.
If I am not doing the things that get me to my goals then I must take a serious look within myself to see where I am lacking the direction and why. Reaching your goals is about self-discipline.
I ask myself, what do I need to change about myself? How do I make those changes? Why have I decided to make this change? Will the change I make allow me to go in the direction I want to go?
If you answer these questions you will be able to see if you are headed in the right direction as well.
What will I learn today and how will I share it with others?
It is possible to be conscious as you live life. Around every corner and bend there is an opportunity, a lesson or a moment to practice gratitude and learn from your experience.
Every day when I wake up or before I go to bed I read from books I chosen to read. These books are a part of my personal reading list. I underline the words that speak to me. Then I look for ways to share those words with others.
Daily, I listening to podcasts that help me grow in different areas of my life.
When I communicate with others, I look to have high level conversations. If that is not possible I seek moments of silence.
I take time to write in my journal. This allows me to empty my mind of what I know. All the information that I have written can one day become a book.
The first person I usually share my new knowledge with is my wife. She does the same for me. This makes us stronger so we can then go out and help people in the ways we know how.
Take some time to consider how the answers to these questions can impact your life. How will you live your life move forward?
Take 10 sheets of paper (or more) and write down one question the top of each page. Then take some time to answer each question for yourself. My recommendation is to do this once a year and see how much your life has changed.
As you site with what other questions or thoughts do you have? Answer those questions as well. When you take your time to answer these questions, you allow your mind to stay focused on your dream and goals.
Here are 3 additional statements Oprah said from stage. The phrases are paraphrased.
I believe these 3 phrases, when understood, have allowed Oprah to be a success. We can apply her thoughts into our life to achieve the same level of success and happiness.
- I am my biggest competition, not other people.
- Every action has a reaction.
- What I call to the universe will come to me if I’m present to receive it in that moment.
What one question did you find the most impactful to you? How will you answer that question to improve your life?
